What is Strip Foundation.?
Strip Foundation is footing which provided for a Load bearing wall or row of columns which are so closely spaced that their spread footing overlap or nearly touch each other.
The calculations for a strip foundation depends on the load bearing capacity of soil and the pressure of the load to be supported.

Consider the following,
Design a strip footing for a single storey house;
Bearing capacity of ground 72KN∕m2
Wall thickness 230mm
Load on foundation 25KN∕m
Step 1: Find the Area of Foundation
Area () =
For one meter length: Width () = Width () = 0.347 Width () = 347 (say 350)
Step 2: Find the width of Foundation Projection
Projection () =
Projection () = Projection () = 60
Step 3: Find the thickness of Foundation footing
Thickness of footing = Projection
But minimum should be at least 150mm Thickness of footing () = 150
Step 4: Find Depth of the foundation
Generally speaking for small residential building, Minimum depth of foundation should be 1.5 times the width of footing Depth of foundation () = Depth of foundation () = 525 (say 550)
